Secret Societies

The Phoenix Club is an exclusive student club at Elton University, notorious for its member’s wealth, success and destructive binges. Membership is extremely hard to obtain, and unavoidably expensive for most, given the costly dinners, secret parties and damages. It consists of 18 males. The Scarlet Society is the female equivalent, which exists in close cooperation with The Phoenix Club. Like them, they consist of 18 females, and while probably equally decadent in their habits, their image remains more mysterious and polished than their male counterparts. The two groups used to be quite segregated, but with time their activities have merged, and their boards are known to confer closely with each other on important matters. Whilst they consider themselves elitist to those outside their select groups, they hold a strict no nonsense policy within them, valuing internal loyalty and comradeship highly.

Wealth alone is not enough to set you apart, however – at Elton everyone has money. When the respective boards make their selections regarding which new students shall be offered a place, everything is taken into account. Family ties, bloodline, looks, academic achievements, schools you’ve attended in the past, prospects for the future, your friends, your ambitions, your extracurricular involvements and your character. One thing that isn’t a secret, is that members of these two clubs go on to make history, money and great success, remaining in the strong alumni network of support until the day they die.

Though no member-list is ever made public, it’s usually well-known who is a member. Some because they’re an obvious choice and others because they have no reason to hide it. What no-one knows however, is what goes on behind the closed doors. Rumors fly of course, and include everything from special treatment by the faculty, scandals, initiations gone too far, never-ending cash-flow and the most exclusive parties on campus.
